Who we are:

At Independence for Life, we believe that a person’s home is more than just a place—it is deeply connected to their identity, independence, and overall well-being.

Founded by Suzanne Murray, OTR/L, CAPS, ECHM, Independence for Life is built on over 25 years of clinical experience across many diverse settings, including burn rehabilitation, acute care, traumatic brain injury, pediatrics, outpatient treatment, inpatient rehab, and skilled nursing. Suzanne ultimately discovered her true passion in Home Health, where meaningful, lasting change happens in the environment that matters most—the home.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University and her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2000. She has also pursued advanced training to further specialize in home modification and accessibility, including an Executive Certification in Home Modification from the University of Southern California and designation as a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) through the National Association of Home Builders.

Our Results:

What sets Independence for Life apart is a uniquely clinical, person-centered approach. Unlike traditional contractors, we evaluate how mobility, balance, strength, cognition, and daily routines interact within the home environment. This allows us to identify safety risks, remove barriers, and create solutions that are not only safe—but truly supportive of how each individual lives.

We understand that change can feel overwhelming. That’s why we provide clear, actionable guidance while respecting each person’s values, priorities, and pace. Whether recommending simple adaptations or guiding more complex modifications, we meet our clients where they are—with compassion, creativity, and a commitment to outcomes that last.

At Independence for Life, we are passionate about helping individuals live fully, maintain their independence, and experience the comfort, dignity, and peace of mind that comes from being able to remain in the place they call home.
